St. Francis of Assisi in the Pines

In worship, we celebrate God with us through water, bread and wine.

With baptism, we are united with God. The Episcopal Church believes through baptism in any Christian denomination, we become brothers and sisters in Christ.

Jesus shared bread and wine with his first followers and is with us today in this family meal we call Holy Communion. Through it we receive forgiveness of sins, a strengthening of our union with Christ and support each other in our spiritual journeys.

Any baptized person is welcome to share with us in this Christian feast.

Who We Are

St. Francis of Assisi in the Pines is a member of the Episcopal Church and participates in the worldwide Anglican Communion with over 70 million members in 163 countries.

St. Francis of Assisi in the Pines straddles a farming community’s past and the growing southern Overland Park, Kansas urban present. We are a growing, family friendly church in the country near Stilwell, KS.

Our church with the red door was built on 19 wooded acres in 1978 at the corner of 179th Street and Old Metcalf Avenue. Because of the efforts of dedicated families and visionary leadership, St. Francis church is debt free and stands solid with open doors and hearts to all who will join us.
